Michael 'Mike' Lindsey

Abilene

Mike Lindsey, 58, of Eula passed away Monday, February 16, 2009. The family will receive visitors in his remembrance at the Eula Lions Club, FM 603 in Eula on Saturday, February 21st from 1:00 to 6:00 pm.

Mike was born December 12, 1950, to O.M. and Wanda (Hagan) Lindsey in Abilene where he graduated from Cooper High School. Mike was employed by Toyota of Abilene for 37 years. He was an avid outdoorsman and was a member of local bass fishing clubs.

He was preceded in death by his parents O.M. and Wanda. Survivors include his son Mark and his wife, Lisa Lindsey of Lubbock; one brother, Billy Lindsey of Abilene; sister, Susan Cook of Arlington; one grandson, Cody Wright of Lubbock; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to West Texas Rehabilitation Center, 4601 Hartford, Abilene, TX 79605. Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory is in charge of the arrangements.

Uncle Mike was a great story teller and had a wonderful sense of humor. He was a red-neck, bbq'in, beer drinking, Nascar watchin' kind of guy. He knew how to work hard and play hard. He may have looked pretty rough, but he was the nicest man and the kind of person you'd want as a friend. When I was little, he'd let me get away with all kinds of things...I'd stand on his lap and braid his beard!
It's never the right time to lose someone you love.

I have never known a truely nicer guy than Mike. He was one of a kind. I was sick in Mike's front yard in 1983 and he told me I was pregnant before I ever knew. Mark & Billy you will continue to be in my prayers. The Will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you. Godspeed - Chris

Having known Mike for the last 37 years, and all the fun we had in what I'll call Sporting Events, I would think he'd probably want to be remembered as JUST A GOOD OL'E BOY. However I know he was much more than that. He was a great father, son, and brother to his family. Myself and everyone else that had the pleasure of knowing Mike will always remember the Man he was and the good times we had. God Bless his family.

As a friend of Mike's Son Mark, I remember hanging out at his house a lot while I was growing up. Mr. Lindsey (Mike) always took the time to talk to me and always had a funny story or joke to put a smile on my face - he will be greatly missed. My sincerest condolences to Mike's family & friends for your loss - our thoughts and prayers are with you as you mourn.
